The Oyster Grounds Google Earth Tour

Welcome to the dynamic virtual tour of the marine environment at the Dutch Oyster Grounds as observed with a range of multi-national traditional and novel autonomous monitoring systems.

Google Earth LayerThe Oyster Ground Google Earth tour is a prototype that demonstrates how Google Earth can be used to display operational and historic marine ecosystem data that is resolved in space and time.

The tour focuses on March 2006 to July 2007 and is composed of 2 layers:

The first layer allows you to tour the locations and types of monitoring systems (platforms) in place. The tour shows the parameters measured by each of the platforms operating in the Oyster Grounds and compares measurements of each parameter measured by the different platforms. The layer demonstrate how historic time series data can be displayed in Google Earth and show how data may be merged from different monitoring platforms to form a composite data set.

The second layer allows you to view the daily measurements made by the various monitoring platforms by selecting a specific date using an interactive calendar. The prototype application will then generate a Google Earth layer for the selected date.

To Take the Oyster Ground Google Earth Tour

 1. If you not have Google Earth installed on your computer Click here to download Google Earth, otherwise skip this step.
